Die Stadt Mark Twains am Mississippi Delta mit ihren Steamboats, Mangrovensümpfen, Baumwollfeldern, Magnolien und dem berüchtigten Rotlichtdistrikt Storyville entwickelte sich zum musikalischen Hexenkessel.

Aus der prickelnden Mixtur von Quadrillen, Polkas, Marschmusik, Mazurkas, Menuetten und Kirchenliedern, gewürzt mit afrikanischen a capella Gesängen und Rhythmen, entstanden neue revolutionäre Stile die bis heute unsere Musik beeinflussen - Ragtime, Blues, Gospel und New Orleans Jazz.

This effervescent mixture of quadrilles, polkas, marches, mazurkas, minuets, and church songs spiced with African a capella songs and rhythms has fermented into revolutionary new styles that continue to influence our music today-ragtime, gospel, and New Orleans jazz.
